NASCAR on Tuesday unveiled its 2009 schedules, which feature realigned dates for the Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck series slates.

The Iowa Speedway in Newton will host a NASCAR Nationwide Series race next season. Track officials announced Tuesday that the 250-lap race will be held Aug. 1. Landing a Nationwide Series race is a major coup for the track, which was designed by Rusty Wallace. The yet-to-be named race is the second from a major circuit on the track's 2009 schedule, joining the Indy Racing League's Iowa 250.

Indianapolis 500 winner and IndyCar Series points leader Scott Dixon will team with former Indy winner Gil de Ferran in the 10-hour Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on Oct. 4. It's the 10th race this season in the American Le Mans Series and will be Dixon's first Petit Le Mans since 1999. Dixon, going for his second IndyCar championship, has won six races this season for Ganassi Racing.

Jeff Gordon pulls into the garage area during the NASCAR 3M Performance 400 auto race at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich., Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008. Gordon cut a tire from a bump with Jimmie Johnson and hit the wall, sending him to the garage for repairs. He finished 42nd and fell from sixth to ninth in the standings.

Carl Edwards looked in his mirrors and saw the guy he had to beat.
